AfricaWorks and Google for Startups partner to accelerate Africa’s startup industry growth
Africa – AfricaWorks, the leading pan-African co-working space provider, is excited to announce its formal partnership with Google for Startups to further support the growth and development of Africa’s startup industry.
As a branch of Google, Google for Startups operates a global startup accelerator and other programs to help startups grow. The partnership with AfricaWorks will provide the co-working space provider with access to Google’s global network and insights from the company’s Silicon Valley-based startup programs, as well as twenty years of Google research and best practice insights on building businesses, products, and teams at massive scale.
The strategic partnership will allow AfricaWorks to connect with an elite group of the world’s top accelerators, share information, and leverage resources. These resources will help AfricaWorks’ startup portfolio, which already includes some of the fastest-growing companies in the region, to scale their businesses exponentially.
Google for Startups does not take an equity stake in accelerator portfolio startups, but instead focuses on developing companies and their ecosystems over the long term.
“Our partnership with Google for Startups is a game-changer for Africa’s startup industry,” said Greg Schwebig, CEO of AfricaWorks. “Through this collaboration, we can connect our members with top accelerators, leverage cutting-edge technology and gain access to Google’s global network and expertise. This will help our members scale and succeed, and we are excited to work together to create a brighter future for Africa’s entrepreneurs.”
Through its collaboration with Google for Startups, AfricaWorks will join a growing network of top, independent accelerators across Latin America, Europe, Asia, and Africa.
“We are excited to partner with AfricaWorks to continue supporting the growth of Africa’s startup industry,” said Kevin O’Toole, Google for Startups’ Global Head of Accelerator Operations and Partnerships. “We look forward to bringing the best of Google’s products, technologies, and people expertise to support AfricaWorks’ startups.”
